As a way to introduce the design process in both 2D and 3D projects, all design students at Iowa State complete a year of design exploration. During this time students are challenged to explore the use of creating refined drawings from sketches, create a tool out of paper, which is then deconstructed and used to create a space container, and create a poster based on the topic of Iowa and components from a postcard and montage.
